A Stone's Tale

Ancient Surfaces followed this villa from the outside in. A carved stone archway shelters the entrance porch, opening onto a cobblestone courtyard where a stone fountain sits among potted citrus beneath steep tiled gables, and a second rounded gateway arch frames the same fountain from across the garden. Inside, an intricately carved limestone fireplace mantel becomes the focal point of the living room, set beneath open timber trusses with the sea visible through the windows. The story continues into the kitchen, where an antique sixteenth century limestone mantle has been reworked into a range hood with a herringbone brick backsplash, flanking a stone topped island with its own integrated sink. A round breakfast nook finished in leaded glass sits just beyond, and the kitchen floor itself is laid in Ancient Surfaces' own twelfth century antique biblical stone.
